Since we have received many messages recently asking who the new guys in the band are, we figured it was about time to introduce you to them. First off, both of these young gentlemen are well seasoned Flatfoot 56 fans and friends who have been with us since the early days of the band. Both have played with us in the past as fill-ins and come from their own musical backgrounds as well.
Lets start with Eric McMahon (Bagpiper/guitar/background vocals). Eric has been with Flatfoot 56 ever since some of the the earliest shows. He was one of the Chicago south side characters involved with inspiring the song 'Johnny Rumble' when it was written back in 2001. With his wild and crazy show antics, Eric quickly became one of the guys we relied on to start the kids a-moving when the band was still fairly new. As time passed and the band began to grow and tour, Eric worked many of the tours as our merch guy and second piper when we wanted to add a little spice to our show. He started playing pipes when we was eight and was trained by the same pipe group in Chicago as Josh Robieson (our original bagpiper). He was also one of the backup vocalists for the recording of Knuckles Up. He is truly a great addition to the band and brings a great presence to the live show along with a generally jovial countenance.
Brandon (Muffins!) Good (mandolin/guitar/background vocals), like Eric, was one of early faces around Flatfoot 56 shows back in the early days of the band. He would frequent many of the shows that we would play around the city and has always been one of the red-faced guys in the pit singing along to every song. Along with being a regular at our shows, Brandon also played in a few bands that would play with Flatfoot on occasion. Some of these bands included, The Dublin Brigade, Arlin, Sexually Frustrated, and Man Made Hell. He has also filled in for some good friends of ours xLooking Forwardx at their 2009 Cornerstone shows. Through all of these shows, and time spent with Brandon, we became aware for his intense love for music of all styles, and his great talent for playing almost any stringed instrument he could get his hands on. He is a very outgoing kind of personality and always brings an energetic demeanor to any stage he plays. He has been a great add on to the Flatfoot family.
We look forward to taking 2010 by storm with our new record (March 2010) coming out on Old Shoe Records (US), Stomp Records (Canada), I Hate People (Europe), and Big Mouth Japan (Japan). Stay tuned. We've got some great things on the horizon!
